Two free family events are coming to Darlington town centre this August.
On Thursday 20 August, from 11am to 3pm, Legends and Fairytales Day will take place. Residents can dress up to meet and greet favourite fairytale characters around the town centre. Live performances will be held on the main stage in the Market Square, alongside free craft activities.
On Thursday 27 August, from 11am to 3pm, Dinosaur Day will offer live shows, fossil digs and arts and crafts activities.
Council backing
Libby McCollom, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for local services, said the events help families enjoy the summer holidays at no cost. She added that free events bring people together and support the council's ambition to create thriving places and connected communities. McCollom also encouraged visitors to use the opportunity to visit shops, cafes and restaurants in the town centre.
Travel support
Under a national scheme, under-15s can travel free on buses throughout August. Young people up to the age of 21 can travel anywhere in Tees Valley and into County Durham for £1 at any time.
