Learning & Skills Darlington has launched six new 'Pathways to Employment' courses from September to help local adults into work. The structured programmes target construction, hospitality, health and social care, customer service, and work with children and young people. A specialist fostering pathway is also available for new and existing foster carers.
The courses are funded through Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) Adult Skills funding and delivered in partnership with local businesses and support organisations. They are designed to provide a complete pathway from initial learning to employment, with direct connections to recruiting employers.
Who Can Apply
The courses are open to Darlington residents aged 19 and over who are currently unemployed or looking to change career. They are particularly suited to people without recent work experience, few or no qualifications, or facing other barriers to employment.
Cost and Support
Most learners can access the courses free of charge. Additional financial support is available in some cases to help with travel or childcare costs.
Course Structure
Courses run one day per week over 12 to 18 weeks at venues across Darlington. Online learning may be available for some learners.
Participants will build confidence and motivation, develop practical work-related skills, improve job prospects through employer engagement, gain job search and application skills, and progress towards employment or further study.
